Jonmarc Lippincott

  • Xenia High School graduate; joined MVABL in 1996 with the Indians
  • Formed the Dayton Rangers in 1997 and continued playing/coaching for years
  • Recorded his 200th coaching win in 2009
  • All-time MVABL leader in hits, runs, and RBIs
  • 8-time All-Star and 2008 All-MVABL First Team shortstop
  • Winningest coach in league history
  • Led teams to 3 league championships: 2009, 2012, 2015
  • 2014 Coach of the Year
  • Holds league single-season hits record with 60 in 1998

Jake Kingsolver

  • Xenia High School graduate; former Urbana University home run record holder
  • Joined the Dayton Rangers in 1998
  • Played 11 seasons in parts, returning strong in 2009
  • Helped solidify the Rangers lineup for their first league title in 2009
  • Career .406 hitter
  • Rangers all-time home run leader with 39
  • Led the team in home runs 4 times

Clint Wolf

  • Xenia High School graduate
  • Played at Miami-Middletown ThunderHawks, earning Player of the Year honors
  • Joined the Dayton Rangers in 2001
  • Retired after 2011 ranked top 5 all-time in 8 offensive categories
  • Back-to-back MVABL MVP in 2006 and 2007
  • All-MVABL First Team selection every year from 2006 through 2010
  • Set Rangers team record with 5 straight 40-hit seasons

Gregg Foster

  • One of the premier power hitters in MVABL history
  • Known for his long-ball power and signature batting stance
  • Hit 88 career home runs, one of the league’s most untouchable records
  • Member of  3 Dayton Astros championship teams
  • Ranked top 5 all-time in hits, runs, RBIs, and doubles

 

 

Pat Barrett

  • One of the fastest players in MVABL history
  • Stole 178 bases in his career
  • Rare combination of speed, power, and defense
  • Hit more home runs than doubles
  • Member of 3 Dayton Astros championship teams

Class of 2011

Shawn Schmitt

  • One of the top left-handed pitchers in MVABL history
  • Fenwick High School graduate; joined Rangers in 1999 after Miami University Middletown
  • Strong pitcher and hitter
  • Led Rangers in strikeouts through his first 7 seasons
  • Returned in 2009 and helped the Rangers win their first championship
  • Broke the league’s all-time wins record
  • Finished career as the first player with 600 innings pitched and 600 strikeouts
  • First player to eclipse 100 mound appearances
  • 5-time All-Star
  • Holds MVABL records in wins, complete games, games pitched, and innings pitched

Jacob Robinson

  • Preble Shawnee High School graduate
  • Joined the Rangers in 2004 and quickly became a rotation leader
  • Led team in wins for 5 straight seasons
  • Shoulder injury in 2009 limited pitching, but still helped win championship
  • Founded the Camden Redlegs in 2010
  • 2010 Coach of the Year
  • 2008 MVABL Cy Young winner
  • 8-time All-Star
  • 2-time Top Defensive Player in All-Star Game
  • 2-time All-MVABL First Team selection as both pitcher and outfielder

 

 

 

 

 

Tim Sullivan

  • Alter High School graduate
  • Original MVABL player from the inaugural 1995 season
  • Played for Dayton Cubs, Mariners, Flames, and Rangers
  • Team MVP in 1996 after leading league in batting average and home runs
  • Part of first father-son duo in league history
  • 5-time All-Star, starting at 3 different positions
  • Played in 5 MABL Fall Classic national championship tournaments in Florida
  • Named All-Tournament Team in 1998
  • Served as league president for 1 season
  • Returned after multiple spinal surgeries and later coached Ohio Mariners to championship series
  • Ranked top 5 all-time in hits, runs, doubles, and home runs

Tony Walters

  • Stebbins High School graduate
  • One of the league’s original ironmen on the mound
  • Ace of the Dayton Astros during multiple championship seasons
  • Regularly led the league in appearances, innings pitched, and strikeouts
  • Known for energy, stamina, and nonstop hustle
  • Still ranks among career leaders in wins, ERA, innings, games, strikeouts, and complete games
  • Considered the definition of a hard-nosed ballplayer

Class of 2012

Mark Franklin

  • Number 1 overall pick in the 1997 draft
  • Played for multiple expansion teams before settling with the Royals
  • Helped lead the Devil Rays to their only championship
  • Took over Royals managerial role in 2005
  • Led Royals to championships in 2007, 2008, and 2010
  • Won 4 total championships as player/manager
  • Career .329 hitter with the Royals
  • Team leader in multiple offensive categories
  • 3-time All-Star

 

 

 

Joe Staten

  • West Carrollton High School and Sinclair C.C. graduate
  • Joined the Dayton Rangers as a free agent in 2001
  • Played 15 seasons in MVABL
  • Won 3 championships
  • 3-time All-Star
  • Career .333 hitter with 37 home runs
  • Ranked top 10 all-time in runs, RBIs, doubles, triples, and home runs
  • All-MVABL First Team first baseman in 2007
  • All-MVABL Second Team in 2010
  • Also contributed as a pitcher with 5 wins, 2 saves, and 114 strikeouts

Jason Joyce

  • Chaminade Julienne graduate
  • One of the best pure hitters in league history
  • Starred for the Dayton Astros over 8 seasons
  • Career .456 batting average
  • Still among all-time leaders in hits, doubles, home runs, and RBIs
  • Set the single-season batting average record in 1999 at .655
  • That record still stands

Class of 2013

Jeff Fruhwirth

  • Founded the Beavercreek Sox adult team in 2003
  • Built the program into one of the league’s best
  • Posted a 212-70 record in 12 seasons
  • Compiled 209 regular season wins, 3rd most in league history at the time
  • Won 7 regular season titles
  • Coached in All-Star Games from 2005 and 2007-2015
  • Finished with an 8-2 All-Star coaching record
  • Named 2012 MVABL Coach of the Year
  • Honored for long-term devotion to amateur baseball

Matt Spradlin

  • Springfield Northwestern High School graduate
  • Finished with 33 wins, 578.67 innings, and 668 strikeouts
  • Strikeout champion in 2008, 2009, and 2012
  • Also hit .360 for his career
  • Indians’ all-time leader in hits, home runs, and total bases
  • Notable achievements include 19 strikeouts in a game, 18 strikeouts in another, and a no-hitter in 2011

Matt Klaus

  • Bethel High School graduate
  • Widely regarded as one of the most dominant pitchers in MVABL history
  • Played for the Expos, Ohio Woodpeckers, and Ohio Mariners
  • Member of 4 championship teams with the Woodpeckers
  • Returned in 2011 as strikeout leader
  • 2012 Pitcher of the Year
  • All-MVABL First Team in 2006 and 2012
  • Threw a complete game shutout in the 2005 MABL Fall Classic championship game in Florida
  • Struck out 19 in the 2003 championship game, including 15 in a row

Class of 2014

Chris Jergens

  • Alter High School graduate and former Wright State Raider outfielder/pitcher
  • Joined the Kettering Royals in 2009
  • First Hall of Famer to also win Rookie of the Year
  • 4-time All-Star
  • 2-time league champion
  • 2010 Playoff Co-MVP
  • All-MVABL First Team in 2009 and 2011
  • All-MVABL Second Team in 2010
  • Career .457 hitter with 27 home runs in 6 seasons
  • Royals leader in doubles, home runs, and slugging percentage

Class of 2015

PJ Dobbins

  • Joined MVABL in 2007 with the Dayton Astros
  • Hit .432 as a rookie and led team in extra-base hits, runs, and RBIs
  • Played 4 seasons with Astros, then joined Ohio Mariners in 2011
  • Later played for Fairborn Athletics
  • 3-time All-MVABL selection
  • First Team in 2007, Second Team in 2008 and 2010
  • Career .414 hitter
  • 2nd all-time in triples and stolen bases
  • 2010 All-Star
  • Ranked top 20 all-time in hits, runs, RBIs, and doubles

Jon Venters

  • Joined Beavercreek Sox in 2009
  • Xenia High School and Shawnee State graduate
  • Played professionally for the Pittsfield Colonials
  • 2-time Cy Young Award winner
  • Career 30-3 record with 1 save
  • Career 2.38 ERA, best among pitchers with 100+ innings
  • Struck out 350 in fewer than 250 innings
  • 5 straight All-Star appearances from 2011-2015
  • All-MVABL First Team pitcher in 2011 and 2014
  • Second Team in 2013
  • Posted an incredible 0.53 ERA in 2013
  • Entered 2017 top 5 all-time in wins and strikeouts

Brandon Howard

  • Joined MVABL in 2008 with the Dayton Rangers
  • Member of Camden Redlegs since 2010
  • One of the top offensive second basemen in league history
  • Entered 2017 as one of only 5 players with 200 career RBIs and 200 runs scored
  • One of only 6 players with at least 30 career home runs
  • Redlegs all-time leader in home runs and RBIs
  • 3-time All-Star
  • Defensive Player of the Game in 2015 All-Star Game
  • Part of 2 championship teams
  • Collected 6 All-MVABL honors, including First Team in 2011, 2012, and 2015
  • Career .352 hitter through 2016

Mike Ballard

  • First recipient of the MVABL Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Recognized for 20-plus years of tireless service to the league

  • 2006 Miamisburg High School graduate
  • Played for Dayton Rangers from 2006-2009, then Camden Redlegs from 2010 on

  • Career .381 hitter

  • 6-time All-Star
  • Compiled 233 hits, 142 runs, 150 RBIs, 59 doubles, and 10 home runs
  • Also threw 379.1 innings with 26 wins, 8 saves, and 268 strikeouts
  • Ranked among all-time leaders in appearances, complete games, and strikeouts
  • Won 2 championships: 2009 Rangers and 2016 Redlegs

Chris Flaherty

  • 2008 Miamisburg High School graduate
  • Top overall draft pick by the Miami Valley Dragons in 2009
  • Second draftee to reach the Hall of Fame
  • Played for Kettering Royals, Warren County Shockers, and Ohio Mariners
  • 5-time All-Star
  • 3-time All-MVABL honoree
  • 2011 Playoff Co-MVP with Shockers
  • Career .405 hitter entering 2018
  • Ranked 5th all-time in doubles
  • Among only a few players with 600+ at-bats and a .400-plus career average

Robert Riley

  • 2008 Springboro High School graduate
  • University of Northwestern Ohio alum
  • Joined Dayton Rangers in 2009
  • Part of 3 league championship teams
  • 6-time All-Star
  • All-MVABL First Team at third base in 2009, 2010, and 2014
  • Second Team in 2013 and 2015
  • Ranked 8th all-time in home runs with 27 entering 2018
  • Career .417 hitter
  • Set Rangers franchise high with a .561 batting average in 2014
  • Compiled 211 hits, 199 runs, 155 RBIs, 53 doubles, 6 triples, and 30 stolen bases in 9 seasons

Joey Watson

  • First member of the Fairborn Athletics organization inducted into the Hall of Fame
  • Fairborn High School graduate
  • Joined the Athletics in their inaugural 2011 season
  • Won a championship with Fairborn in 2014
  • Later joined Camden Redlegs and won another title in 2016
  • 6-time All-Star
  • Started 2 All-Star Games as pitcher and 3 as catcher
  • 4-time All-MVABL honoree
  • Only player in league history to earn All-MVABL honors as both a pitcher and position player in the same season
  • Career .421 hitter through 8 seasons
  • Also totaled 21 wins and 3 saves as a pitcher
  • One of only 6 players with at least 200 hits, 200 RBIs, and 30 home runs
  • One of only 6 players to record 50 hits in a season
  • Only player with 3 seasons of 40-plus RBIs
  • Famous for a 5-for-5, 3-HR, 10-RBI game on May 12, 2012

Joe Becker

  • Entered 2020 ranked 2nd all-time in innings pitched, wins, and complete games
  • Also ranked highly in appearances, saves, and strikeouts

  • 2018 All-MVABL Second Team outfielder
  • Member of 4 championship teams with the Royals
  • Career .390 hitter
  • Ranked among league all-time leaders in hits, runs, doubles, triples, stolen bases, innings, wins, and strikeouts
  • One of the league’s better two-way players

Kevin Campbell

  • Springboro High School graduate
  • Entered league in 2010 with Camden Redlegs
  • 2015 All-Star
  • Set MVABL single-season record with 103.67 innings pitched
  • Won 11 games in 2015, a league record at the time
  • Earned All-MVABL recognition in 2015
  • Part of the 2016 Redlegs championship team
  • Ranked top 3 all-time in wins, innings pitched, and complete games
  • Top 10 in strikeouts
  • Camden franchise leader in innings, wins, and strikeouts
  • Also tied for team lead in shutouts and led club in playoff wins

Jerel Bristol

  • First Wright Knights player inducted into the MVABL Hall of Fame
  • Joined league in 2013
  • Won 2013 Rookie of the Year after leading league with a .594 average
  • 7-time All-Star
  • Franchise leader in plate appearances, hits, runs, RBIs, doubles, triples, home runs, walks, and stolen bases
  • First Team All-MVABL in 2013, 2016, and 2019
  • Second Team in 2014, 2015, and 2017
  • Career .417 hitter through 2021
  • Ranked in top 25 all-time in multiple offensive categories
  • 2nd all-time in stolen bases with 159
  • Led league in steals from 2013-2016
  • Holds single-season stolen base record with 43 in 2015

Evan Koogler

  • Third player drafted into league to later reach Hall of Fame
  • Drafted by Miami Valley Thunder in 2009
  • Played 7 seasons with Thunder, 5 with Royals, then joined Redlegs in 2021
  • Became first Royals player to win MVP in 2018
  • 4-time All-Star
  • All-MVABL First Team catcher in 2018
  • Career .348 hitter through 2021
  • Ranked top 20 all-time in hits, runs, RBIs, and doubles
  • Also excelled on mound with 22 wins, 4 saves, 319.2 innings, and 346 strikeouts

James Robinson

  • Played college baseball at Miami University-Middletown

  • 25th season in 2023, spanning 4 decades in the league

  • 4th all-time in hits with 389
  • Ranked top 12 all-time in runs, RBIs, and doubles
  • One of only 10 players with 300 hits, 200 RBIs, and 200 runs
  • Also made a major mark in Redlegs franchise history

Rob Johnson

  • Graduate of Stebbins High School and Purdue University
  • Member of MVABL inaugural 1995 season
  • Named Coach of the Year in 2007,2008 and 2025
  • Led Astros to 6 championship appearances and 3 titles
  • Took a hiatus in 2009 to compete in mixed martial arts
  • 5-time All-Star third baseman
  • Career .356 hitter with 12 home runs

  • First and only player to come through draft and win league MVP
  • 5-time All-Star
  • 7-time All-MVABL selection as an outfielder
